No scenery and few props are needed for this pantomime. Let the audience use it’s imagination! Changes of scene can be indicated by p1acards shown by prompt or one of the cast and then put down. A table (tea trolley is ideal) is needed for the kitchen scene, with pastry made of p1ay dough (flour and salt) rolling pin, bottle of wine, glasses.
COSTUMES may be made from any material to hand. Rybena and the rest of the Wild women wear simp1e tunic tops over thick tights with leaves for camouflage. In the final scene they wear brightly coloured long dresses. The masks may be bought or home made, but should be as ugly as possib1e, and covered with veils (net curtain is ideal) when they first appear. Basil may wear a suit or a sort of ‘Joker’ outfit.
The ‘hypnotist’ scene should be overplayed, especial1y by the chicken who should strut and crow in a very exaggerated manner. This can be really funny!
