ROBINSON CRUSOE

SCENE: A LONDON STREET. ENTER ROBINSON CRUSOE CARRYING A RUCKSACK.

ROBBIE

I’ve walked for miles along this street,

It’s playing havoc with my feet,

I’ll rest right here until I’m well,

Then I’ll carry on for a spell,

This really is a rotten place,

I have not seen one friendly face.

SITS DOWN ON THE FLOOR WITH ELBOWS ON KNEES AND HEAD IN HANDS.. ENTER MRS. BANGLE

MRS. BANGLE

What have we here? A poor young chap,

Seems to have suffered some mishap,

His clothes are ragged, cheap and torn,

His shoes are dirty and well worn.

Wake up young man, are you all right?

Or maybe you’re just extremely tight?

ROBBIE

Eh? Eh? Tell me what’s happened, please

I really feel I’m on my knees.

MRS. BANGLE

Come on stir yourself, you can’t stay here, ROBBIE SCRAMBLES TO

HIS FEET.

You’ll have the police around I fear,

You need help to get you on your way

Or perhaps somewhere for you to stay.

ROBBIE

Yes, I do need to rest awhile Madam,

And you do not know me from Adam,

But I’d be so grateful if you had a bed,

Where I could lay my weary head.

MRS BANGLE

Let me think, you look O.K.

I guess it is your lucky day,

I can offer you a small room

So put away your look of gloom,

Come along let’s step it out

You need a meal as well no doubt.

BOTH EXIT. SCENE 2 MRS. BANGLE’S KITCHEN SMALL TABLE CAN

BE PULLED FORWARD, ALICE IS SETTING THE TABLE AND PUTTING CHAIRS ROUND. ENTER ROBBIE AND MRS. BANGLE.
