SCENARIO
The scene is set in a comfortable living room, with 2 armchairs, sideboard, table, chairs, and any other items to give a picture of a well run home.
PROPERTIES
Sideboard with tray, bottle of brandy and glasses. Another tray with coffee cups, etc.
An old photo album. Mobile phone especially effective if it has a strident or silly calling tone. A toy mobile phone might be easier to manage. Liz could carry it in her pocket and press the button to make it ring at the right time. A tape recorder, for radio announcement.
COSTUME
Kitty, and Phyllis and Mrs Baxter in comfortable everyday clothes. Liz in casual clothes. Anna in ill fitting clothes, not matching, with a scarf round her head.
SOUND EFFECTS Well chosen music can set the atmosphere for a play whilst the curtains are opening and during any pauses in the action when the stage may be empty. The noise of the crowd should rise and fall as Phyllis comes in. After the voice has spoken it gradually diminishes and then ceases all together.
N.B. The name ‘Iestyn’ is pronounced ‘Yestin’
